The former Chelsea man has impressed in his short-term move to the Etihad Stadium from New York City FC, scoring four times in six outings, including an equaliser in the 1-1 draw with the Blues in September.
Manuel Pellegrini has already expressed an interest keeping Lampard for longer, but the man himself is keen not to commit with New York's inaugral MLS season starting in March.
"The temptation is to not get ahead of myself in my career. I am here until January 1, basically, so I will focus on that and see what happens then," Lampard is quoted as saying by the Manchester Evening News.
