McDowall steps down as Rangers boss

The 51-year-old had been handed the reins at Ibrox after Ally McCoist was placed on gardening leave in December and was originally due to be in charge until the end of the season. However, he has now handed in his resignation, citing personal reasons for his departure. "Kenny McDowall has tendered his resignation as caretaker manager of Rangers Football Club, citing personal reasons for stepping down," a statement read on the club's official website. "The club respects Kenny's decision and he will continue to have the full support of everybody at Rangers."
